Glaciology field season ends on the Manas massif

Faculty of Geography researchers completed this year's mass-balance measurements with the Manas Peak observatory.

A team from the Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences completed the 2026 mass-balance measurements on the glaciers of the Manas massif. Prof. Nazira Isaeva said the summer had been one of the warmest in the observatory's record.

The data feed the inventory of the 268 glaciers of the Iradi Talas basin, whose melt provides a third or more of the August flow of the high tributaries.
