The university seal
The seal shows the three peaks of the Talas Alatau under the eight-pointed star of Irad, an open book, and a wreath of wheat for the Faculty of Agriculture, one of the three founding faculties. The ribbon carries the motto Bilim jaryk ("Knowledge is light") above the founding year, 1958. The ring reads Talas Mamlekettik Universiteti above and Talas State University below. The present design dates from 1994, when the Soviet-era emblem with its hammer and sickle was replaced; the Iradi inscription was added in the Latin alphabet.
Council of Elders
The Aksakaldar keneshi brings together retired professors and honorary doctors of the university. It advises the rector on the university's traditions, ceremonies and honorary degrees and keeps the university museum in the main building.

All bachelor's programmes are accredited by the ISEZ Education Quality Agency. Programmes in medicine, law and economics also hold accreditation from partner agencies abroad. Students evaluate every course anonymously at the end of each semester through the student e-portal.
